About the HEC
The Hansa Energy Corridor (HEC) is a collaboration between 8 partners located in Northern Netherlands and Northwest Germany, with the Dutch University of Groningen as lead partner. HEC is part of the EU funded INTERREG IV A programme and strives to develop an excellent energy region or in the HEC vision the »European Region of Excellence on Energy Transition«.

First workshop of Ems-Achse and Energie-Forschungszentrum Niedersachsen (EFZN) was a success - Members of Ems-Achse and Oldenburger Energiecluster (OLEC) took part in the workshop “Virtual Power Plants and Grid Stability", on 16th of February in Aurich

Immediately after the official welcome by Dr. Dirk Lüerßen, managing director of the Ems-Achse, Dr. Gabriele Krautheim (Landkreis Aurich) told the participants: "We want to do business with you!" and described the importance of advancing the technology transfer to the regional economy.
Dr.-Ing. Jens zum Hingst introduced the Energy-Research Centre Lower Saxony and informed about the possibilities of cooperation.

Afterwards, the participants from industry and public administration, gained insight into "virtual power plants". Dipl. Wirtsch.-Ing. Marko Schmidt explained the advantages and disadvantages in practice by the example of the “Virtual Power Plant Harz”. Then Dr. Dirk Turschner from the Technical University Clausthal illustrated in an impressive presentation the functionality of the "virtual synchronous machine" (VISMA). After the lectures the participants exchanged their impressions and experiences.
HEC Workshop “Virtual Power Plants & Grid Stability”, 16th of February 2012 in Aurich
The Energy-Research Center Lower Saxony is, besides a presentation of the institute and opportunities of collaboration, going to explain in two lectures the benefits and realization of virtual power plants as well as the economic efficiency.
The Workshop will be in German and is free of charge.
